It sucks, but that's what worked for me if you want to avoid getting a VPN and such. Now that I have the game downloaded I haven't had any issues whatsoever.
What the disc does seem to vary, possibly by region. Some people have reported needing to put the disc in to reinstall the game, others have reported being able to download the entire thing e. User Info: Seraphor.
Tell me about it I downloaded the trial, I think it was about 15gb, took 20 hours over several days. Now I've logged into the client and it's downloading another 15gb, but it's downloading at a tenth of my download speed when I test my connection, it's working out at 37 hours remaining right now. Does the in-client update save your download progress? Or does it start from scratch very time you disconnect? I don't think I can keep my ps4 on for 37 hours. It will restart, I think.
The downloads from the client can't be done in standby mode the way PSN downloads can. This is ridiculous. I'll probably never get to play this. Why can't the PSN files include the updates?
