Hey everyone, So i just finished my first build ever and I think I have everything working fine. I have the drivers for the GPU and the ones that came with the motherboard but that's about all. Since this is my first build I could really use any advise on what to do after a build is done.
Any other drivers I should install please tell me! Also the display on the motherboard says "A0" all the time but I read that is fine so should I not worry? If you are experiencing problems then go with Chino's advice, but if you have no issues, then why not update. If you're afraid, just stay with the original bios, I'm not afraid.
With that said, I still on occasion have an odd issue of a setting or two going to default usually when I'm quickly tapping the "del" key to get into bios and it hasn't happened too often. I had many more issues with previous bios', so yes, I'd personally update to before overclocking. I can tell you I've had far better luck overclocking with You can see what I've achieved I have an old bios version. I need to do 3 bios update.
Do I increment? Sry for thinking it was your overclock guide was at work and in a hurry , and about that maximus i think go straight to last one, its a driver after all same as a gfx , just get the last one :D.
Yes, you just get the latest one, it includes all previous fixes. No need to do all those in between. If you afraid as MeanBruceROG suggested maybe just stick to Dell as it doesn't require anything other than just pushing the on button.
I love this guy, and he's right it's ROG baby, we don't need a bib to drip on. There are plenty of people here to get first time users thru the in's and out's of learning your new board, so don't be shy, ask away, learn what you need and enjoy that Maximus V board to it's fullest. I never got that memo, but then I get kept out of the loop quite a bit for good reason. So i jumped in with both feet and bought the Maximus V Extreme with the K processor and 32gb Corsair memory. This board is the best board i have ever owned. Best eReaders. Best Gaming Monitors. Best Android Phones.

If your computer is working just fine and you have no trouble with it, then you can probably stop worrying about updating your BIOS. That is, unless the new BIOS version adds specific features that you want. This is the fancy modern equivalent of a BIOS.
There are two main ways to update your BIOS. The other is from within your operating system, using a BIOS flashing utility provided by the motherboard maker. We strongly recommend that you use an operating system-based utility if that option is open to you. There are a few reasons for this, the most important of which is that if something goes wrong with the BIOS reflash, you can still do something about it while the computer has not yet rebooted.
In other words, flash the old BIOS back or retry flashing the new one. It also helps that most good motherboards makers have update utilities that are essentially automated, making your life easy.
